Global Supplier Quality & Development Manager
Purpose
The Global Supplier Quality & Development Manager is responsible for monitoring and improving supplier performance. This person will also be responsible for qualifying new suppliers, auditing existing suppliers and insuring that there is a consistent quality expectation across the supply base.
Key Responsibilities
Works with other regional purchasing & sourcing directors to select and maintain strategic global suppliers, regional and local suppliers for both direct materials and indirect (revenue) products and services.
Develops and maintains and distributes the corporate global supplier quality manual.
Implements and maintains rating systems that can be used internally or externally for supply base.
Develops and carries out supplier improvement programs using the above data to target improvement activities in supply base performance.
Identifies supplier strengths and weaknesses. Share strengths with operations and other suppliers as appropriate.
Is a significant contributor to Low Cost Sourcing programs and helps make sure that initial sample runs go smoothly and that suppliers have a consistent process that will allow them to supply consistent product on and on-going basis.
Visit suppliers, train and drive home quality expectations.
Identifies areas for common sense value re-engineering. Suggest projects and interface with corporate QA and Engineering
Gives feedback to corporate on the problems that the company gives its’ suppliers (Poor scheduling, incorrect or incomplete drawings…..) Facilitates and helps implement irrevocable long term corrective actions in conjunction with other departments.
Key Skills and Experience
Minimum 10 years business experience of which 5 years should have been in procurement and/or supplier quality & development
Experience managing relationships with both internal & external stakeholders
Understanding of ERP systems in multi-site environment
Cross functional experience giving a broad appreciation of business needs.
Strategic thinker with a vision to improve the supply base for the long term
Thorough knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9000, QS9000
Strong communication and influencing skills
International travel experience and familiarity with different cultures
Technical degree preferable
Six Sigma Black Belt desirable
