Software Strategist, Audio, CA, $155K
The Software Strategist is a new position with our client and is a senior member of their
Product Marketing team. Our client is a world-leader in digital audio production systems.
You will be responsible for devising, refining, and communicating the strategy for the
evolution and feature development of their software products.
This exciting position involves gathering market and user input by polling external and
internal power users and identifying which new capabilities need to be developed or
improved to meet our client's objective of evolving the most powerful, adaptable, and user-
friendly software audio application for the worlds of music and post production. As the
Strategist must address a diverse set of audiences with differing levels of understanding
and familiarity with their products and the competition, you must also be a focused and
effective communicator who can disseminate your vision widely inside and outside the
company.
Develop, document and communicate overall development strategy for the family
of software applications by working with the executive team, internal market specialists
and the sales force
Recommend an evolutionary strategy to keep the software products ahead of its
competitors and highly relevant to its users
Evangelize and support that strategy inside and outside the company
Review the strategy against the product roadmap to ensure that the company
stays on-target or course-correct as necessary
Provide overall market and user-needs trend information for music creation, post
production, and mixing console segments
Provide competitive feature analyses that illuminate the shortfalls and
advantages in their capabilities relative to their competitors
Collaborate with the product managers and development teams on the design of
new features in the context of the long term strategy and vision
Maintain a focus on ease-of-use and simplicity in new designs, holding the
organization to good design-for-simplicity principles
Qualifications:
BA/BS preferred, or equivalent in music, audio engineering, business or related
technical field
10 plus years experience in the pro audio industry.. The ideal candidate will have
deep exposure to both post production and music practices
Deep knowledge of DAW software products; some knowledge of associated
audio hardware including larger scale mixing console application
Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, including a good ability
to collaborate with focused and committed stakeholders, and simplify and translate for a
wide range of audiences
This role reports to the Vice President of Product Marketing, and requires
executive-level communication and interaction skills
The role demands superior organizational and time management skills, along
with the ability to manage multiple priorities and the ability to be an agent for forward
motion and change in a cross-functional, collaborative environment
