Job Description: A leading manufacturer of quality support systems and enclosures for electrical, mechanical, and telecommunications industries is searching for a Director of Engineering to work in their St. Louis facility. This position is responsible for leading new product development, cost reduction, and sustaining existing product lines to enable worldwide market leadership. ·         Develop and execute the new product development strategy and product development roadmap to achieve the company goals for sales vitality growth.
·         Drive continuous improvement by implementing value add/value engineering (VA/VE) projects to achieve annual cost reduction goals.
·         Lead the global sustaining engineering function to create engineer-to-order products, provide production and customer support.
·         Works closely with the manufacturing operations to ensure products meet quality requirements.
·         Lead and develop the engineering team in support of talent development initiatives.
·         Oversee the deployment and disciplined use of D-MVP (Design for Lean Six Sigma) to ensure timely and cost effective product development and introduction.
·         Responsible to assure that all products meet appropriate national and international codes and standards.
·         Works closely with domestic and international manufacturing locations to coordinate successful product launches while meeting project schedules.
·         Collaborate with Director of Product Management to develop multi-generation product roadmaps and strategy.
·         Partner with offshore engineering teams to accelerate engineering development.
·         Requires periodic international travel.
 
 
 
Requirements:
 
·         BS Mechanical Engineering, Master’s Degree a plus
·         12 years of progressively increasing engineering responsibility including project management and a minimum of 3 years engineering management.
·         Demonstrated experience and knowledge of alternative materials
·         Ability to document, plan, execute, manage, and control programs and technical resources
·         Strong oral and written communication skills
·         Proven cross-functional interpersonal and leadership skills
·         Experience working with international suppliers and/or customers
·         Experience working with offshore engineering resources
·         Strong business acumen
