Job Description: EHS Mgr being sought by an industry leader in the production and distribution of inorganic minerals. This position will provide functional support to the underground mine in the areas of environment, health, safety, training, and workers compensation administration. ·         Implementation of EHS & Security Policy and associated management system
·         Drive the company’s “Getting To Zero” initiative and continuous improvement in EHS
·         Ensure regulatory compliance and all internal/external reporting requirements
·         Maintain a professional relationship with MSHA to ensure essential cooperative atmosphere for continuous improvement of all matters related to safety & health of the workforce
·         Participate and administer the Joint Health & Safety Committee
·         Manage all training activities – employee, contractor, visitor
·         Administer medical management program for any injured workers and provide necessary support for any workers compensation claims
·         Provide oversight for direct report – Safety Supervisor
·         Manage other duties as assigned by dual reports
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree EHS or related field
  • 5-10 years related experience in surface/underground mining industry
  • Working knowledge of MSHA and 30 CFR
  • A proven track record in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety mgt systems such as those standards for lock-out/tag-out, electrical safety, etc.
  • Position requires up to 10-15% travel with overnight stays
  • Must be PC proficient and skilled in MS Word / Excel and other Windows programs
  • Assess own strengths / weaknesses, pursue training and development opportunities
  • Develop strategies to achieve organizational goals, understands organization’s strengths and weaknesses
  • Sets and achieves challenging goals, demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Observes safety and security procedures, determines appropriate action beyond guidelines, reports potentially unsafe conditions, uses equipment and materials properly
