Job Description: Safety Manager sought by a major corporation for its 400+ unionized chemical manufacturing operation in the Richmond, VA area. Responsible for leading a total site safety program that meets and exceeds all the federal, state, and corporate safety and health regulations. Planned opportunity to advance to EHS Mgr in a short period of time.  

·         Articulate vision for Site Safety & Health excellence with an injury/incident free workplace goal. 

·         Establish systems to collect, track, and trend key safety performance indicators; implement corrective strategies where appropriate. 

·         Ensure site employee safety & health training as required by government and corporate regulations.

·         Manage site loss prevention and insurance reviews.

·         Establish/manage a site industrial hygiene program. Ensure monitoring and resulting actions are taken as required.  

·         Sign-off on the safety aspects of all capital projects to ensure that concept, design, installation meet site and corporate S&H requirements.

·         Address employee wellness and ergonomic issues.

·         Serve as Incident Commander on Emergency Response Team.

·         Work closely with site nurse, Contractor Safety Leader, Site PSM Leader, Contractor Security, and Fire Protection.             

Job Requirements:  

·         B.S. Occupational Safety & Health, HSE, or a closely related technical discipline.

·         Minimum 8 years safety and health experience in a manufacturing environment. Chemical mfg. experience preferred.

·         CSP certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

·         Minimum 3 years supervisory experience

·         Proficient computer skills

·         Knowledgeable of Process Safety Management.

·         Must have skills/experience to advance to EHS Mgr role in 6 months.
