Sr. Process Engineer:
The incumbent is responsible for providing technical support in quoting, developing, and launching new products and processes which utilize liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and silicone high-consistency rubber (HCR) molding equipment and processes. He/she also provides support to production (problem solving/troubleshooting) at the Division’s manufacturing facilities. The incumbent may also support Sales and Marketing personnel within the Division in an Application Engineering role to assist in visiting customers and winning new business. The incumbent shares joint impact on the established Sales and Capital budget, particularly that dealing with growing our business with silicone products within the Division.
JOB DUTIES:
· To conceptualize and develop lean manufacturing processes for new and existing business opportunities, which may include new and/or modified plant, equipment, and process needs.
· Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process, leading or supporting the development of prototype and production processes and equipment to achieve a flawless production launch. Assists in creating and maintaining documentation such as BOMs and routers, molding specifications, Process Flow diagrams, Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), etc.
· Initiate, lead, and/or support continuous improvement projects to reduce cost, improve productivity, reduce scrap or waste, and provide daily support to production, including CAPA (Corrective Action, Preventative Action) support.
· Supports Division Sales and Marketing personnel with available and emerging silicone (LSR and HCR) technologies, value proposition technical presentations, and customer visits to support sales growth. Provides inputs to support the development accurate and timely manufacturing processes/costs for new business inquiries.
· Supports defined (as well as identifies new) Division objectives toward standardizing LSR and HCR prototype and production tooling needs, equipment needs and specifications, and the technical exchange and development of advanced technologies, for example: multi-shot LSR/LSR and LSR/thermoplastic/2-component molding processes and equipment.
· Achieves Policy Deployment targets and objectives.
· Aids with short- and long-term planning for capital expenditures relating to future production requirements; Lead projects involving new capital.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE JOB:
Individual must be able to prioritize tasks and coordinate efforts with numerous departments at several facilities. Must be able to complete projects and implement improvements in an expedient manner in a fast-paced environment. Must also be flexible in accepting responsibilities and assignments, as the needs and the staffing of the facility change. Individual must also be willing to work on any shift at times to address shift specific issues.
This position may require significant (50% to 75%) travel including domestic and international travel to other facilities, customers, suppliers, as well as to our global partners and suppliers.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Science along with 5 to 8 years of related experience in the rubber or plastics industries, with an emphasis on tooling, equipment and process, and lean manufacturing equipment and techniques.
· Experience in processing liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and silicone high-consistency rubber (HCR) is required.
· Good technical problem solving/analytical skills and mechanical aptitude are required. Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred.
· Lean Systems Green Belt certification is a plus.
· Effective, demonstrated oral and written communications skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization, including presentation skills.
· Demonstrated ability to multitask/manage many projects in a fast-paced, team environment.
· Must be highly self-directed and work with a minimal amount of supervision.
· Ability to read, write, and speak the German language is a plus.
· Personal Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
